An advisory panel created to aid President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed has recommended that coronavirus vaccine doses initially be given to health care workers and first responders. Although Operation Warp Speed is slated to purchase 300 million vaccine doses for the American people, the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will be in charge of the vaccine distribution.
For a variety of reasons, the COVID-19 virus has affected minority communities at a higher rate than other demographics. As vaccine planning and development ramp up, several U.S. states and cities have requested extra measures to get vaccine doses to Hispanic, Native American, and black communities hit hardest by the coronavirus.
